Yosemites highlights (2 days)

- American camp vibes at Yosemite lodge, yogi bear style.

- Walking the mist trail and discovering that I'm the beginning and the end of the rainbow.

- Demonstration of American indian weaving.

- Falling asleep to the sound of rushing river outside my window.

- Meeting a little girl who liked to jump in the water.

- Spotting squirrels and deer.

San Francisco Highlights (3 days)

- Walking the city.

- Hiding in cafes while the city is covered in endless rain.

- Re-discovering the work of Diego Rivera and visiting multiple murals.

- Visiting the old arcade machines at Musee Mecanique.

- Eating a delicious meal at Safa, in my hotel. Vegetarian and gluten free, it was a mix of traditional Yemenese and Californian. Unexpected Yum.

- Meeting Ryan and being taken swing dancing.

- Spending the day at the SFMOMA and seeing two great shows; 'the Steins Collect' (Matisse, Picasso and the Parisian Avant-Garde) and 'Face of our Time', photography by Jim Goldberg, Daniel Schwartz, Zanele Muholi, Jacob Aue Sobol and Richard Misrach.

Auckland

Auckland highlights (4 days)

- Hanging out with Kate & Matt

- Celebrating Kate's Birthday

- Watching bungy jumpers fall from the sky while eating an amazing breakfast: eggs florentine & champagne

- Eating the best Indian butter tofu. So creamy and rich but irresistible.

- An outdoor party in the middle of winter dressed as a gladiator? (I know we came up with a name but I didn't remember then and I can't remember it now.)

- Watching a ginger Jesus and Robinhood rocking it on the dance floor

- Spotting pukeko birds in the rain

- Lounging in front of the heater watching Cheaper by the dozen.

- Drinking the best ginger lemon tea

- Being spoilt with two beautiful tops

Max Creasy: Reflections

My brothers exhibition opened last week in Melbourne at the CCP and I was lucky enough to be there. Included in the show was Photocopied Notes, a piece I contributed to by drawing his photograph on plaster before it was rephotographed. Check out more of Max's work here.

While in Sydney recently I drooled over the many books at Kinokuniya. I was completely overwhelmed by all the amazing illustration, art, design and craft books they had. It was here that I bought Julie Morstad's beautiful 'Milk teeth'.
